HOMECOMING

Layering the performers’ personal histories with collective experiences, the work evokes themes of memory and home: finding home, leaving home, and losing home. The work integrates content sourced from a collection of narratives told by individuals who have lost their homes following a natural disaster, or left their homes in response to political violence or war. RocCo creates a theatrical environment that reflects the ways in which emotional traumas skew reality, security, and permanence.

The performance centers around a large mobile set piece: an expansive 42 x 24 yard sheer plastic hammock that acts as a manifestation of the performers’ world. HOMECOMING leaves the performers and audience alike suspended in a liminal space: between returning home or leaving it behind, moving forward or reaching back.
